Five Go Pony Spotting in Sutton Park! (Midweek Ramble)
Overview
Ok, I can’t quite promise the thrill of an Enid Blyton adventure, but 'Five' is important as this is a walk in the park under the new rules governing association which only allow a maximum of 5 people plus a walk leader for a socially distanced walk. However, as all catering outlets are still closed, you’re welcome to bring snacks and 'lashing of ginger beer' if you wish. And if (Timmy?) the dog wants to come, that’s fine as well!
We’ll be meeting in the Blackroot Car Park and plan to walk for around 6 miles in both the north and south areas of the park. We should visit 5 or 6 pools along the way and we hope to meet the famous Exmoor Ponies at some stage as well.
The only special requirement is that we do all this whilst remembering to maintain distancing throughout the walk.
Depending on our pace and stops to enjoy the scenery, we should be finished around 2pm.
Richard knows the park well and will share some stories and secrets as we go.

We meet in the Blackroot car park. This can only be accessed by entering the park through Four Oaks or Hartop Road Gates.
From Four Oaks Gate (on Four Oaks Road) keep on the same road for approx. 1 mile, where you need to take a right turn over a railway bridge. The car park for The Blackroot Bistro is then on your left. Park up and find Richard near the Bistro entrance. If you can’t find us, dial the Spice Mobile 07899 950109.
Note: You cannot get to The Bistro from any of the park gates other than Four Oaks Gate or Hartop Gate. Be careful with Sat Nav systems as they don’t always understand this!
