We have been asked to put on a city break in the area, so here it is. We are going to Exeter for the weekend. Exeter is bursting with heritage as one of England’s historically significant towns. From medieval underground passages to the Gothic Cathedral, Exeter is a unique city with a myriad of exciting attractions to explore.
Elegant and cosmopolitan, it is a modestly-sized city on Devon’s south coast. It’s a place that has perfected its blend of old and new, with sleek contemporary retail districts punctuating medieval cobbled streets, while the city’s Quayside only adds to the charm. The gothic Exeter Cathedral, with its dramatic vaulted ceiling, is a must-see, as is the Royal Albert Memorial Museum. Come the evening, take your pick between hearty grub in cosy pubs, or getting in on the latest international dining trends at the city’s stylish independents. Couple that with a location just a stone’s throw from the natural beauty of Dartmoor, and there’s plenty that’ll impress on your trip to Exeter.
And if you like shopping, there is the Princesshay Shopping Centre with over 70 designer and high street stores and the Castle and Cathedral Quarters which are home to many unique boutiques and shops.

We are staying at the Jury's Inn which is ideally situated for our visit to Exeter, just ten minutes walk from Exeter Central and St James Park train stations and it is also close to the city's many high street shops, restaurants and bars so it is easy to explore the city on foot.
The hotel is located on Western Way, just a ten minute walk from Exeter Central and St James Park train stations. It is also close to the city’s many high street shops, restaurants and bars, so it will be easy for us to explore from Jurys Inn on foot.
Having just been refurbished, the rooms are stylish and comfortable. There is a restaurant, bar and coffee shop and there is free wifi throughout the hotel.
