Evening Walk: Spofforth and Follifoot
Overview
Tonight we walk between the villages of Spofforth and Follifoot alongside the Crimple Beck and to the edge of Rudding Park. We'll follow a different route back through fields, crossing the dismantled railway alongside the golf course and will see the castle ruins as we arrive back in Spofforth.
If we get very lucky, we may just be able to sit outside for a drink at the pub at the end!
Distance: 5 miles approx.
This event is free and is strictly for members only. We are limited to a total of six people at present so do not delay if you want a place. Please book only if you fully intend to come along. If you do book and then for any reason you can't make it please let us know so we can offer the place to someone else. Do not attend if you have virus symptoms.
We must all observe the social distancing regulations. Please do not book unless you are prepared to keep a two metre distance from other walkers. We are not requiring members to wear face coverings, but you are welcome to do so if that makes you feel more comfortable.
Location & Itinerary
Walking on footpaths, roadsides and fields. There are hilly parts but nothing too steep and a few steps. 90m of ascent.
Meet outside the Village Hall (Long Memorial Hall) on Castle Street, Spofforth.
Spofforth is on the A661 halfway between Harrogate and Wetherby. If coming from the South on the motorway, exit the A1(M) at junction 45 then follow the A168 towards Wetherby. At the roundabout just outside Wetherby follow the sign to Spofforth (A661) which takes you towards Wetherby town centre. You'll pass over the river bridge and then take the first exit at the mini roundabout signed Harrogate A661. Follow this road for about 3 miles to Spofforth.
At the roundabout in Spofforth by the Castle Inn, take the exit onto Castle Road (signed Spofforth Castle) and the Village Hall is around 120m on the left side.
Park on the roadside.
Bus 7 stops about 250m away at the Low lane Farm stop.
