Evening Walk: High Green to Tankersley near Sheffield
Overview
A circular walk through woodland and across fields to the 14th century church at Tankersley, returning along part of the Trans Pennine trail. There are good views across Chapeltown from Westwood Park. The route crosses Stocksbridge by-pass and Tankersley Golf Course.
Please dress appropriately for the weather, stout shoes or boots are recommended. There is no halfway food stop on the shorter evening walks but take snacks if you need and a drink.
We can finish with a drink at the Pack Horse or one of High Green's other pubs.

Location & Itinerary
A moderately challenging walk, with some level and surfaced paths / roads, but with some uphill sections through woods and some stiles and one busy road to cross. It could be muddy in places so wear suitable footwear.
We'll meet outside the Ecclesfield Parish Council offices at the corner of Mortomley Lane and Pack Horse Lane
High Green is the the north of Sheffield, a short drive from junction 36 of the M1 if you are coming from out of town and travelling from the north, or 35A if travelling from the south.
There is plenty of free roadside parking on Mortomley Lane with the best position being the parking layby outside St Mary's Catholic Club.
Buses 1, 11, 29, 135, 135a, 728 and 782 pass on Mortomley Lane. Take the Pack Horse Lane stop, right by the meet point, or the Jeffcock Road stop opposite.
