Hosting By

Yorkshire

This event is no longer available.

This evening we walk from Beighton alongside the River Rother into the former open cast coal mining area that is now the Rother Valley Country Park, with the former mine excavations forming artificial lakes well used by wildlife and for recreation. We'll walk upwards from the lakes to the edge of Wales Common and return to the start through the woodlands.

The Elmwood Farm pub will provide our post-walk refreshments!

Distance: 4 miles approx.

The photo shows us out enjoying the sunshine above Denby Dale last Saturday, with the Emley Moor TV masts behind us. It was a hot day, and we all appreciated a cold drink in the pub at the end! It was great to see former Spice Yorkshire member Helen, who now lives in Scotland, but was here for the weekend and joined us on a couple of events. It's worth remembering that as a Spice member, the entire programme of events across the country from Scotland to the Isle of Wight is available to you!

After the disappointment of the eventual football result on Sunday evening, it was great to hear on Monday that the restrictions that have prevented us from running many of our regular events will be lifted next week. Events such as our ten pin pyramid bowling and our quiz nights will soon be back, and we can book tables for more than six people!

Just as it looked like things may be beginning to return to normal, something extraordinary has happened and England have reached the final of Euro 2020! It seems that football might actually be coming home (whatever that means). Why not join us to watch this historic event in Leeds or Sheffield this Sunday?
