Evening Ramble: Fletcher Moss Park and The River Mersey
Overview
Starting close to Fletcher Moss Park, we take in the park and a glimpse of the lovely gardens before heading off to the banks of the River Mersey to continue our exploring.
If we are lucky the fabulous Parsonage Gardens in Didsbury will be open for us to explore their exotic and unusual plants and trees.
A fairly easy walk on decent paths and the river bank but we still recommend good walking boots are worn.
Location & Itinerary
Grade 5: 4 1/2 Miles - please refer to the Ramble Grading page HERE
Directions: We will be utilising the car park at the far end of Ford Lane in Didsbury. The postcode provided is for Didsbury Sports ground who are situated close to the end of Ford Lane - continue past the sports ground and follow the lane to the far end to find the car park. From the centre of Didsbury on the main A5145 Wilmslow Road, turn right on to Dene Road then immediate left on to Ford Lane. Continue on Ford Lane until the end keeping left at the fork on to the rough lane past the allotments on the right and the sports ground on the left. The car park is situated at the far end on the right - as you go along the rough lane, you pass through an open gate that says something along the lines of 'Mersey Flood' Gate - this is only closed if there is a chance of flooding and the car park is not closed overnight.
Sorry no facilities at the start point but we do pass a pub after about half a mile.
