Easy Afternoon Social Stroll from Stanley Ferry
Overview
Please note that we have rearranged the date of this walk to take place on Tuesday 3 November. This will now be our last Spice Yorkshire walk before the national lockdown.
Come and join Jill for a steady and socially distanced stroll along the towpath of the Aire and Calder Navigation. We will start from the Stanley Ferry Pub and walk the towpath, before turning round and returning. The pub has outdoor seating so any of us that live outside the Very High (tier 3) Covid Local Alert Level areas can enjoy a drink or food there at the end of the walk.
Do not attend if you have virus symptoms.
We must all observe the social distancing regulations. Please do not book unless you are prepared to keep a two metre distance from other walkers. We are not requiring members to wear face coverings, but you are welcome to do so if that makes you feel more comfortable. We advise that you bring gloves and hand sanitiser. Do not share food or drink or equipment such as walking poles with other walkers outside your household or bubble.
Location & Itinerary
We'll stop for a drink or bite to eat in the beer garden of the pub. You can see the Stanley Ferry menu here.
The paths are shared with cyclists and horse riders. There are no styles.
Meet at the Canal side near the pub beer garden.
Your best route to here very much depends on your start point, but the nearest motorway junction is junction 30 of the M62. From here take the A642 towards Wakefield. After almost two miles (immediately after a bus shelter) turn left onto Ferry Lane. After a quarter of a mile turn left at the junction to stay on Ferry Lane. You will find the pub car park a little further on on your right.
Buses 125, 146, 147 and 147A pass along Ferry Lane. Take the Ferry Lane Ward Lane stop.
