Easy Afternoon Social Stroll around Pontefract Racecourse
Overview
Come and join Andrew for a steady and socially distanced stroll around Europe's longest racecourse, the flat course in Ponte Park. Don't worry, we have checked that there is no race meeting today!
Distance: around 2 miles
Do not attend if you have virus symptoms.
We must all observe the social distancing regulations. Please do not book unless you are prepared to keep a two metre distance from other walkers. We are not requiring members to wear face coverings, but you are welcome to do so if that makes you feel more comfortable. We advise that you bring gloves and hand sanitiser. Do not share food or drink or equipment such as walking poles with other walkers outside your household or bubble.
Location & Itinerary
Afterwards you may be able to get a hot drink from the McDonald's just across the road, and we can drink them in the park.
This is an easy stroll on a good level footpath.
Meet in the car park near the racecourse grandstand.
Pontefract Park is easy to access from junction 32 of the M62. Take the A639 towards Pontefract. After around ¾ mile you will come to a roundabout. Take the third exit into the park. Take the third exit again at the mini roundabout and follow the road to the car park.
If travelling by bus, the 187, 410, 411 and 476 all pass on Park Road. Take the Park Road Racecourse stop.
