Easy Afternoon Social Stroll around Newmillerdam near Wakefield
Overview
Come and join Jill for a steady and socially distanced stroll around Newmillerdam south of Wakefield. We will start from the War Memorial near The Dam Inn and take a circular route returning for a drink or snack afterwards at the pub or one of the cafes.
Do not attend if you have virus symptoms.
We must all observe the social distancing regulations. Please do not book unless you are prepared to keep a two metre distance from other walkers. We are not requiring members to wear face coverings, but you are welcome to do so if that makes you feel more comfortable. We advise that you bring gloves and hand sanitiser. Do not share food or drink or equipment such as walking poles with other walkers outside your household or bubble.
Location & Itinerary
We'll stop for refreshments at Lakeside Cafe, Beuley Cafe or Fox and Hounds, all of which have outdoor seating.
This is an easy stroll around the lakeside path.
Meet at the War Memorial near The Dam Inn
Newmillerdam is located on the main A61 Barnsley Road on the left hand side as you leave Wakefield towards Barnsley. We will meet at the War Memorial which is on the left just before the road bridge over the dam. There is a small car park here but if this is full, there is a larger car park further on over the bridge on the same side of the road which is pay and display (postcode WF2 6QQ). The car park is free at the time of writing, but please take some coins just in case the council decide to start charging again.
Buses 59 and 59a pass on Barnsley Road. Take the Newmillerdam (N1) or Newmillerdam (N2) stop.
