Easy Afternoon Social Stroll around Golden Acre Park
Overview
Come and join Jill for a steady and socially distanced stroll around Golden Acre Park. This historic site was opened in 1932 as a large amusement park but it had failed before the end of the decade. It is now a well laid out public park including an arboretum, wildfowl lake, woodland garden and heather garden. We will start from the car park on the main A660 road and stroll around the park, stopping if possible for a takeaway drink at the park's cafe.
Do not attend if you have virus symptoms.
We must all observe the social distancing regulations. Please do not book unless you are prepared to keep a two metre distance from other walkers. We are not requiring members to wear face coverings, but you are welcome to do so if that makes you feel more comfortable. We advise that you bring gloves and hand sanitiser. Do not share food or drink or equipment such as walking poles with other walkers outside your household or bubble.
Location & Itinerary
There's a good cafe with rather vague opening hours. If it's open, we may be able to stop here for a takeaway hot drink at some point during the walk.
We will be walking on good paths around this well laid out park
We meet in Golden Acre Park's main car park on the A660 (Otley Road / Leeds Road).
The Golden Acre Park is situated 6 miles from Leeds City Centre on the A660 (just where Otley Road becomes Leeds Road). We are meeting in the Golden Acre Car Park which is about ¼ mile past the Mercure Parkway Hotel (heading from Leeds towards Otley) and on the opposite side of the road.
There is plenty of free car parking.
Buses PH4, X84 and X85 pass on the A660. Take the Leeds Road Golden Acre Park stop which is just by the car park.
