There is an excellent selection of independent shops as well as the Waterside shopping centre. There are plenty of places to socialise nearby with cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars in the city centre as well as by the Brayford Wharf right outside our hotel.

Join us for a fun weekend where we will take in the sights of the city, all within a short walk of the DoubleTree by Hilton.

On the Saturday night we will have a Spice-exclusive party in the hotel in the Aspen room with great views of the city, and our own outside space too, as Alan, our DJ, plays tunes to get us all up dancing.

Included in the price is three breakfasts, three dinners, a cathedral tour, a treasure hunt, a party night, a guided walk, and a river boat cruise, with more optional group activities.

This promises to be a great weekend so come along and have a great time of the long break with lots of fellow Spicers!

Location & Itinerary

Lincoln developed from an iron-age settlement and is home to the impressive gothic cathedral, which was the tallest building in the world for over 200 years. It also has an 11th century castle, interesting museums and galleries, and lots of independent shops.

We'll get a good chance to explore it on our treasure hunt, or there is plenty of time to look around independently.

Our hotel's location is on the site of the former electricity works and is on the wharf of England's oldest indoor harbour, Brayford Pool. It's a lively place, with a wide selection of pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants by the water.

Arrive at leisure on Good Friday. You can check into your room from 3pm.

7:30pm. Meet us for our dinner shuffle in the hotel's Viewing Room restaurant. This will be a great way to meet some of the others on the weekend.

On Easter Saturday we'll meet up at breakfast.

Late morning. There will be a guided tour of Lincoln Cathedral if you wish to join us. After the tour we will be meeting for a coffee in the Cathedral Cafe where we will be handing out the clues for the treasure hunt which will take in many sights of the city.

Early afternoon. We will put you into teams for the treasure hunt. It will take you around the historic city centre, and there will be plenty of time to explore the city and maybe stop for a lunch break.

Early evening. We will meet up in the Aspen Room and announce the winners of the treasure hunt. We'll then enjoy a three course dinner, before our DJ Alan gets the music playing for us to dance the night away at our exclusive party.

On Easter Sunday morning we will meet up at breakfast.

Late morning. We will depart on an optional guided walk heading out of the centre along the water and will take in some more sights, then stopping at a local hostelry for a refreshment break!

In the afternoon we will have a boat trip on the Brayford Belle to see the city from a different perspective. The rest of the day is free to explore more of Lincoln, and maybe visit one of the museums or galleries, or enjoy the cafes or bars.

On Sunday evening we will meet up at the hotel and walk a short distance to a local pub for our final dinner together.

Breakfast is included on Monday

You can then join us for an optional tour of Lincoln Castle.

Check out of the hotel is at 11am.

Travel & Stay

We will be staying at The DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln, which is in a great waterside location by Brayford Wharf, England's oldest inland harbour, with views looking across the marina, and up to the city's impressive cathedral. It's less than half a mile from Lincoln railway station, which has direct trains from London, Leeds, Doncaster, Leicester and Peterborough.

Our rate includes accommodation in an en-suite double or twin room (two separate beds) with Sweet Dreams beds. Each room has either a shower over the bath or a walk in shower.

Included is Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, aircon, safe, tea & coffee facilities, Freeview TV, desk, toiletries, iron, and hairdryer.

There is lift access to all floors. Smoking is not allowed in any part of the hotel.

A full English breakfast is included for Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings.

Check in is from 3pm on Friday and check out is by 11am on Monday.

Getting There

The hotel is in Lincoln city centre alongside the inland harbour at Brayford Wharf. It is less than half a mile walk from Lincoln railway station, which has direct trains from London Kings Cross (less than two hours away), Leeds, Doncaster, Leicester and Peterborough.

By road, the route will depend where you are coming from, but most people will take the A1. If travelling south, leave the A1 at Markham Moor and take the A57 to Lincoln. If travelling on the A57, note that there is a toll to pay at Dunham (40p at the time of writing, but may be increased to 50p) so please take the correct change, or contactless payment.

If travelling north, leave the A1 at Newark and take the A46 into Lincoln.

On arriving in Lincoln take Lucy Tower Street, then if you are parking at Lucy Tower, the car park is on your left. If you are parking at the hotel then continue to the end of the road and turn right onto Brayford Wharf (it is signed no motor vehicles except for access, but it is OK to use it to access the hotel). You'll then come to the DoubleTree by Hilton on your right. The entrance to the car park is just before the hotel.

Hotel car parking is £14 per night and there is a limited number of electric vehicle chargers. A cheaper alternative is the Lucy Tower car park very close by, which is £9 per 24 hours, and also has a couple of vehicle chargers. Prices are subject to change.

Here at Spice your health, safety and wellbeing are of paramount importance. Whether travelling on holiday or attending Spice weekends away, in the UK or overseas, it is always advisable to have adequate travel insurance in case of emergency, cancellation, etc.

Travel insurance is an important aspect to booking a weekend or holiday, giving you protection against unforeseen circumstances that could otherwise spoil your trip. We also strongly encourage the need for a personal travel insurance policy that includes Covid 19 cover.

While we cannot recommend specific insurance policies as everyone’s requirements are personal to them, Spice have linked up with market leader Staysure Travel Insurance, which you may like to take a look at.
