This is now a Tank Battle experience. The next Drive a tank is on the 19th September

Here's one for the bucket list - Drive a 17.5 ton tank!

(We've managed to get you a great deal on the usual public price of £80)

Get behind the controls of a serious piece of military machinery when you go tank driving around Leicestershire. At the beginning of the session you will be given an army helmet, so you look and feel the part for your forthcoming tactical challenges. Then you’ll get to meet your instructor and see the inside of your tank, complete with full battle-zone livery for the first time.

Taking your turn in the driver’s seat your first mission is to complete a lap with the hatches open. You’ll be able to see what’s ahead and around you, come to terms with the controls of your tank, and be able to concentrate on where you’re headed.

Your second lap is much more authentic, as you wind down the seat and close the tank’s hatch, so you’re driving in combat conditions with only the periscope to guide you. This is a real test of judgement, direction and confidence which is also where your tank driving skills will really start to develop*

The Leicestershire track is great for offering a whole range of landscapes, and is a fantastic experience for military novices and seasoned navigators alike.

*You will be given the choice of doing this. If you do decide to, you will be the only person inside the tank as the other two (instructor and member) will still be head and shoulders outside of the tank at that time.

·      Driving Licence - Not Required

·       Maximum Height - 6ft 4' / 193 cm

·       Maximum Weight - 22 stone / 140 kg

·       Min Height - 4ft / 122cm

Following feedback from our previous event we've decided to meet beforehand to get to know your fellow SPICE members as you look around the collection of over 60 tanks and military vehicles, guns, interactive displays and machinery in the on-site museum and grab a drink or a snack in the cafe. The café is still open but you need to eat your purchase outside.
