This event is no longer available.

Come along and let the ladies of Golcar Croquet Club coach you to play croquet where they can teach you the basics.. If you have played before come along and have a few games. All equipment is supplied.

Croquet is an outdoor lawn game where each player uses a mallet to knock their ball through the wickets (small wire hoops) to score points. The object of the game is to be the first player to knock the ball through all the wickets and end by striking the final stake, a thin, striped pole usually placed just beyond the last wicket. Though first played by the peasantry in France in the thirteenth century, croquet became somewhat of a game of the upper class in England and Ireland in the 1800's. Now it is a game played worldwide by many people.

Afterwards we’ll enjoy a cream tea.

Please wear flat shoes and bring a waterproof jacket if appropriate.

The photo shows us in Millhouses Park last Sunday towards the end of our walk and as we looked forward to a tasty Sunday lunch! This combination of a walk followed by a meal makes for a great afternoon out, so we have more for you. Look out for these ones coming up ... Leeds Canal Walk and Lunch, Canal Walk: Huddersfield to Brighouse with lunch at Meze Brighouse, Sunday Walk and Lunch: Fulford and Heslington, and Sunday Lunch at the Fox and Hounds Newmillerdam and optional walk. We'll also be arranging a new date for the Walk and Sunday Lunch: Whirlow Hall and Ecclesall Woods very soon, so keep an eye out for that one!

Archery, Raft Building, Paddling, Swimming, Balloon bursting, Ziplining, Wall climbing, Singing, Dancing, Marshmallow toasting, Trampoline bouncing, Laser shooting. These are just some of the fun things we got up to last weekend on the Yorkshire Outdoor Adventure at Dearne Valley. We've already had some great feedback from this weekend with many people wanting to go back for more, so we are already looking to arrange another visit next year.

What an amazing bank holiday weekend we have had, with Spice Yorkshire members all across the country, from Scotland to the Isle of Wight. Firstly, there was the Edinburgh Festival Weekend with 40 Spice members descending on the city and joining Jamie to enjoy several shows. In Northumberland, we had the Hadrian's Wall Walking Weekend with Walkwise. In Derbyshire, Lauren hosted the three-night Dovedale weekend at the country house hostel in Ilam, with fabulous walks each day. One Spice Yorkshire member ventured into Wales for the Tenby and Pembrokeshire Coast Walking Weekend. Meanwhile, Pam hosted the Isle of Wight weekend in Shanklin covering everything from swimming, sunbathing, walks, afternoon tea, pubs, Shanklin Chine, Freshwater Bay, Alum Bay, boat trips, Osbourne House, Cowes, Ventnor and even riding in a tank at the Military Museum. There's a photo below of some of the group by the sea. If you missed out on this one, Pam is doing it all again on the May Bank Holiday.
