Overview

After fantastic feedback from our previous visits we thought we would give a few more members a chance to give this creative workshop a go. If you've enjoyed this event before, feel free to come again as we can make different items each time as Kate is very flexible on what we make. This time we're at a brand Kate's brand new, larger studio in Droitwich which has parking available right outside.

During our 2 hour session, we will be shown how to hand build an item of choice such as a decorated pot, planter, bird feeder or tealight etc. You will then have the opportunity to have a go at 'throwing a bowl' or similar on the potters wheel!

We will make 4-5 items, which will then be dried, biscuit fired, and subsequently glazed for us. The pots will then be ready for collection approximately 3 - 4 weeks later. For those wanting to go back and glaze their own pots, arrangements for this can be made directly with Kate on the day.

Kate will also supply drinks and biscuits to keep our artistic juices flowing!

This event is organized and supplied by Kate Pullen - Ceramics whose terms and conditions apply, obtainable on request and for whom Spice act as agent. Those booking enter into a contract directly with Kate Pullen. For availability and bookings contact Spice.

Feedback from 2022

  • What a wonderful experience! I was so proud of the three pieces I made and I can't wait to go back and glaze them. Kate guided us every step along the way but left plenty of room for our creative flair. Everyone was friendly and there were cups of tea/coffee and heaters to keep us warm whilst we worked. The door was left open to keep germs at bay so we all felt safe. It was a lovely experience. I'm looking forward to taking part in the next stage of the process.

It was such a bargain price too!

  • I thoroughly enjoyed my pottery making, it was a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The directions were great but my SatNav broke at a very crucial moment, so I called Kate and she directed me to her studio. The cost of the event was about right and I would certainly book another event of this kind in the future.

Previous Feedback

  • It was a really good session, relaxed with time to chat before we started. Enjoyed trying two other ways to use clay before we were let loose on the potter's wheel. Looking forward to seeing the finished articles when they are glazed.
  • What a great event! This is something I’ve always wanted to do and I really enjoyed it. Kate was a fabulous host, she made everyone feel very welcome. Her tuition was very clear and simple, we completed 3 different tasks, each very different. I made 6 items, all better quality than I was expecting. I’m looking forward to going back to paint what I made and having some lovely items to keep or give as gifts. A super group of Spicers to spend the morning with. I can’t recommend this event highly enough. The highlight was definitely having a go on the potters wheel!  Thanks
  • Brilliant event - took me back 30 odd years to school pottery lessons! That class was the best fun. Great teacher.,and achieved so much.... Looking forward to seeing them come out of the kiln now!
  • Excellent so good I'm now signed up to a separate course. I rate Kate Pullens pottery teaching very highly and was great fun.
  • Great tutor and would recommend - looking forward to collecting my pots after firing.
  • I really enjoyed the Pottery class and using the wheel! The tutor was excellent in that she did the hard part of centering the clay on the wheel, and then gave us very clear guidance on how to draw a top into a bowl or pot. We all had repaired two pots by the end, plus a soap dishes and a bowl. It was definitely value for money and I’ll be going back to paint and glaze what I produced at a later date so that she can then fire it in her kiln. Thank you for organising this as it is something I had always wanted to have a go at!
