Overview

This sailing weekend for Cowes Week 2021 will appeal to both sailors and newcomers alike. You can spend the day pulling on ropes or helming the yacht, or just relax and watch all of the excitement.

You will join the yacht and meet the skipper/instructor and the other crew. You will be shown around the boat, and, after a safety briefing will set sail.

The atmosphere aboard is relaxed and the emphasis is on having fun – exactly what sailing is supposed to be.

About the boats:

The trips are supplied by Venture sailing, based in Shanklin, Isle of Wight. They have a selection of boats from 37ft to 44ft that are fully coded for the waters they sail. Location & Itinerary

9.00am – meet at the yacht in Town Quay Harbour

9.30am – set sail for the day. your skipper will be happy to teach you all the basics of sailing a yacht or let you relax, watching the world go by

12.00/1pm – drop anchor in one of the many bays around the Solent for a spot of lunch

1/2.00pm – set sail for more sailing fun around the Solent

Dinner on dry land

Back to the boat to sleep

Day 2 More sailing and spectating and lunch

Day 3 Return to Town Quay for noon approx

PARKING AT TOWN QUAY

Car parking at the quay is managed by Parking Eye Car Park Management.

PUBLIC PAID PARKING

Public parking is available in Car Park 1, located from the start of the quay up to the mini roundabout. Public parking is limited to these bays on Monday to Friday, but extends to Car Park 2 on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. For parking terms and charges click here.

Host & Everything Else

You should wear comfortable clothing and bring layers.

If providing your own, good waterproofs are essential – they should be windproof and full cover (e.g. jacket and trousers). Ski gear or good quality walking gear is usually suitable.

Footwear must be non-slip and non-marking (e.g. not black soled). Soft white soled trainers or deck shoes are ideal. Flip flops are not suitable for wear on deck but can be useful for moving about in the cabin.

Space on board is limited - so remember to pack light!

If you think you may suffer from sea sickness please bring along anti sea sickness pills. These are available over the counter from pharmacies, do ask the pharmacist for advice.
