Overview: This year’s Easter break with Steve & Arlene Dell will explore the beautiful Cotswolds.
This is a wonderful walking area for another great weekend and we will be in the Gloucestershire part of the Cotswolds. There will be an option of a shorter or longer walk on some days, around 6 or 10 miles.
The walking programme will be finalised nearer the weekend but expect walks to include the pretty Cotswold village of Painswick, an historic wool town built of mellow Cotswold stone, nestling in some of Gloucestershire’s most delightful countryside. We will use parts of The Cotswolds Way (a long distance footpath) and there will be lovely woodland, great views. We will visit the famous Coopers Hill made famous by the annual cheese rolling event (don’t worry we wont have to walk up or down! it), Witcombe Woods and Birdlip Hill.
We stay at the Georgian 4* Mercure Bowden Hall Country House hotel in Upton St Leonards, Gloucestershire. All the bedrooms feature an HD TV and complimentary high speed Wi-Fi. There is free parking and a great package; Dinner, Bed & Breakfast all three nights.
The social après walking: Dinner will be at the hotel each evening. On the Friday Steve will do a welcome chat and go through the plans for the weekend. One of the evenings Steve will run a quiz which are always popular.
For non-walkers: The towns of Cheltenham and Gloucester are nearby and of course many pretty Cotswold villages are a short drive from the hotel. Painswick is worth a visit. Rococo Gardens and Prinknash Abbey are also great places to visit.
