Cotswold 6 Villages Moderate to Hard Walk
Overview
This 11 mile hard to moderate walk shows the Cotswolds at their best.
We will visit Little Compton, The Rollright Stones, Little Rollright, Salford, Cornwell, Adlestrop, and Chastleton, returning to Little Compton to finish the day off with a visit to the excellent Red Lion Inn.
There are no major hills, but just typical undulating Cotswold scenery combining tracks, woods, quiet lanes, stunning villages and wide open vistas. The walk has many curious and surprising things to see.
We would expect that the walk will take about 5 hours.
Note: Unfortunately, dogs are not welcome on this particular, mainly due to numbers of horses around and one field that sometimes has cows with calves in. Walking poles will help those with dodgy knees and can be useful for fending off farm dogs or farm owners. Good hiking footwear is essential for this walk as it can be muddy if there has been several days of rain. Bring a packed lunch and some water.
Those with National Trust membership may like to explore Chastleton House and Gardens after the end of the walk.
