Clifton Suspension Bridge is one of Bristol’s most recognisable structures. Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, (who described it as “My first child, my darling...” in 1835) it marks a turning point in the history of engineering and has come to symbolise a city of original thinkers and independent spirit. The Bridge is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year.
We plan to visit again to do the underground vaults and hard hat tours once dates are available to book.
Join the knowledgeable volunteer tour guides as they talk you through the history, construction and maintenance of the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge! These weekend tours last between 45 minutes and one hour. We have booked 4 places on the tour. The tour starts at 2pm from Clifton Toll Booth on the Bristol side of the bridge, crossing over the bridge and finishing at the visitor centre, and afterwards, we will go for coffee/ refreshments at the hub, which is a takeaway coffee shop with outdoor seating by the Visitor Centre.
