Chasewater Easy Walk and Afternoon Tea at Catherine Care

We had brilliant feedback when we ran this event in July, followed by many requests to do it again - both from those wanting to come and experience it again and from those who missed it first time around! So here's another opportunity to enjoy some easy walking and afternoon tea treats whist supporting the special needs community of Norton Canes.

The lakeside walk around Chasewater Country Park is around 3 miles, with our tea stop coming via a short diversion from the park at around the 2 mile mark. We're booked in for 2.30pm, so we can take the walk at a very relaxed pace. There's a good chance of spotting deer on the Heath, plus some canal history and a heritage railway line to pass on the way.

But the real highlight is Afternoon Tea. We're visiting the Tea Room at Catherine Care, which is a wonderful independent charity that provides a fabulous environment for local adults living with special needs such as Downs Syndrome and Autism. The tea room provides experience of independent living, and encourages interaction with the local community. All the food is home prepared and very good! We will also have a chance to learn a little more about this little known charity and the fabulous work they do. We may be able to have a short tour of the facilities, although this will depend upon the staffing demands of the day.

The afternoon tea is all home made and includes: sandwiches and savories, scones (with jam and cream of course!), a selection of cakes and unlimited tea or coffee. Just let us know a few days before if you have any special dietary requirements.

Cost: There is no cost to book this event, however, we ask everyone to give £10 to Catherine Care on the day for the afternoon tea and a donation (they charge £7.95 for the afternoon tea). Also, if you book to attend, please turn up on the day or remember to cancel in good time otherwise they will have prepared food for you.
