Bewdley and Wyre Forest Hard level walk
Overview
This undulating 11 mile walk passes through a variable landscape taking in forest paths, tracks, open fields, riverside walks and quiet tarmac lanes.
There are a few steep descents and a number of short climbs with the occasional rickety stile. Our route climbs out of Bewdley to Coppice Gate and into the Wyre Forest. We cross valleys cut by streams and eventually come to Knowle Mill, which is a National Trust building still housing much of the old machinery of the original watermill.
We will stop here for a short break, then climb out of the river valley and head to Pound Green, from where we pass through more forests before descending into the Severn river valley and our arrival at Arley Station, where we will stop for lunch. Our route then follows the eastern bank of the Severn back to Bewdley. This will probably take 5 hours in total; the going is quite muddy in places.
Bewdley has much to offer and you may like to join us for a drink afterwards in one of its cafes or bars.
