Aikido means 'way of harmony with the universe’ and the attackers' energy is redirected to bring it to a safe conclusion for both the attacker and defender. Lessons consist of stretching and warm up exercises, Ki development, rolling techniques and Aikido self-defence. All aspects of training are geared towards practical self-defence by developing better and finer control and balance between mind and body. Speed, accuracy and technique are valued over physical strength meaning everyone can get involved and safe practice is the number one priority.
We are very lucky to be able to offer this with our very our Janet Parkins as the tutor. Janet is very experienced in the art and has been a qualified Aikido tutor for many years so you will be in good hands.
You should wear loose comfortable clothing such as jogging bottoms and long sleeved t shirt. You will be barefoot on the mat.
