Barr Beacon Moderate Ramble
Overview
This is a lovely 8 mile moderate walk has a variety of points of appeal. It includes a quiet stretch of the Rushall Canal (a late waterway of the canal age); one of the highest points in the West Midlands; a historic church; limestone quarry a fine wood called 'Cuckoos's Nook'!
It's fairly easy walking on field paths and canal towpath. There is a hill up to the beacon but it's gentle and we will take it easy.
This car park is off Longwood Lane, just a few yards from the roundabout where it joins the A454 Walsall Road/ Aldridge Road. This car park has recently re opened after improvements and has space for around 12 cars but there is also parking on the other side of Longwood Lane by Killock Hall if neccesary. We will meet in the car park.
Sat Nav: There is no precise postcode for the car park, but WS9 0GG will get you to the Fiat Garage by the Roundabout. You then need to take the Longwood Lane exit off the roundabout and look for the car park on your left.
