Overview

Badminton is back, which is great news, but there are several new restrictions as we continue the fight against Covid-19. Please read this in full before booking, and only book if you agree to the rules.

Badminton is one of those sports where whatever your ability or level of fitness is you can still have a great game. Don’t worry if you haven’t a clue, you’ll soon get the hang of it and there are plenty of people who will be only too happy to help you get started.

We normally play doubles and mix around between each game.

Don't worry if you don't have any kit - racquets and shuttlecocks are provided, but please bring your own racquet if you can.

We play almost every Tuesday - the only exceptions are public holidays or if the sports centre is in use for a major event.

There could be a fifteen minute break in the session for cleaning, so we should be able to play from 8pm until 8:45pm and then 9pm until 9:45pm. If additional cleaning is required then our session could be delayed.

We may play as two separate groups, depending on the numbers.

As we return to badminton after the Covid closedown there are several extra rules and restrictions that we must adhere to. Please book only if you fully agree to follow these limitations...

  • Andy Butler is our Covid-19 officer. You must follow Andy's guidance.
  • Adhere to social distancing rules.
  • Arrive at the set time and depart immediately afterwards. The showers and changing facilities will not be available.
  • Bring your own racquet if you possibly can and please put your name on it.
  • Bring enough water for the entire session as the water fountains are not available.
  • You must wear a face covering on entry and exit and moving around the building. Facemasks are optional during play.
  • Follow all venue rules and one-way systems.
  • Wash hands or use the hand gel provided on arrival.
  • Understand that should additional cleaning (on top of the new cleaning schedule) of the court area or associated toilet facilities be required, sessions may be delayed.
  • Avoid bodily contact with other players. No hand shaking or high fiving.
  • Follow any additional rules on signage within the venue.
  • If you are feeling unwell or showing symptoms of Covid-19 or have been instructed or have reason to isolate then you must not attend. Please let us know you are not coming.

Really enjoyed it, have booked to go again.

Nice balance - social badminton but never dull.

How patient, inclusive and encouraging everyone was. Some very strong competitive spirits were muzzled, to ensure us newbies were given a fair crack.

The friendly sporting atmosphere pervading throughout balanced perfectly with an air of competitiveness. The evening is great fun both to new starters and experienced individuals and owes a great deal to the efforts of coordinator Andy Butler.

Great group of people. Good fun.
