Covid/Infection Guidance: As a matter of respect to other members when attending events, we ask that you take the following guidance into account.  People with symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as COVID-19, and who have a high temperature or do not feel well, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with others. Those who are asked – or choose to test – and get a positive COVID-19 result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days following the day of their positive result. Normal Spice/Walkwise Terms & Conditions apply.

Travel Insurance: It is also recommended that when travelling on holiday or attending Spice weekends away in the UK or overseas that you have adequate travel insurance in case of emergency, cancellation, etc. Travel insurance is an important aspect to booking a weekend or holiday, giving you protection against unforeseen circumstances. We also strongly recommend a personal travel insurance policy that includes COVID-19 cover. While we cannot recommend specific insurance policies as everyone’s requirements are personal to them, Spice have linked up with market leader Staysure Travel Insurance which you may like to take a look at.

Suggested kit list:

• Walking boots

• A Water bottle (minimum 1 litre)

• A Rucksack with a plastic liner

• Waterproofs: jacket and trousers

• A Hat

• Walking socks

• Base layer: (thin thermal or warm T-shirt. Best not to be cotton as it gets cold when wet)

• Over layer: (warm sweater or fleece)

• Extra layer: warm top for when cold (eg. when stopped for lunch)

• Comfortable walking trousers (not jeans as they are too cold & heavy when wet)

• Personal Medication

• Casual/Smart casual clothes for the evening

• A Towel

• Nightclothes

You may wish to bring:

• Trekking Poles

• Vacuum flask (if you like hot drinks on the walks)

• Medium size Tupperware container or plastic bag, to put picnic lunch in.

• Sit mat

• Sun glasses

• Lip salve

• Camera

• Personal first aid kit

• Binoculars to spot the wildlife

• Your swimming costume, after all we are only 300 metres from the beach!

• Alcohol if you fancy a tipple with/after your evening meals

• Any extra snacks/nibbles you may want for yourself (or to share if feeling generous!)

In good weather and/or summer, you may also wish to bring

• Short trousers

• Sun hat

• Sun tan lotion

What could you do on our visit to Anglesey? Well, there are 125 miles of coast line!

Anglesey’s Porth Dafarch was voted one of “The Best 40 British Beaches” and Lligwy as one of the “10 Best Picnic Spots by the Sea”. One of our favourites though is Newborough Forest and Beach, on a sunny day you can be forgiven for thinking you are in the Caribbean!

Beaumaris Castle; the great unfinished masterpiece, built by the English monarch Edward I in 1295. Such an impressive landmark in Anglesey deserves not to be missed.

Or perhaps you could take time out to marvel at the artwork of C. F. Tunnicliffe and Sir Kyffin Williams as Anglesey galleries proudly display some of their finest.

You can also visit the town of Beaumaris, which is charming with an individual array of shops. Nature lovers can wander around The Dingle Local Nature Reserve, which is bursting with wildlife in 25 acres of a wooded valley or South Stacks Cliff Nature Reserve with a seascape view from the cliffs.

PlasCadnant Hidden Gardens offers a stunning garden, woodland walks, waterfalls and a homely tea room which you may like to visit.

There are also many peaceful spots for shore fishing on many of the beaches across Anglesey. It’s hard to find an excuse not to stroll along these beaches. It doesn’t stop there; find out more about what’s on in Anglesey here

Directions: From the new A55 dual carriageway across the Island leave at Junction 3, signposted Y Fali/Valley, A5; Follow signs for Y Fali/Valley, continue to the road junction traffic lights. Turn left for Trearddur (Bay) B4545. Continue for just over 1 mile, over the new road bridge, straight across the mini roundabout Take the left turn shortly after the bridge over the Inland Sea at Four Mile Bridge - signposted "Rhoscolyn" and "White Eagle" After 1.3 miles turn sharp left at the 'Silver Bay' sign. At about 1K/.6mile down this lane, look for a large white gate-post appearing in the middle of the road. Take the unmade track, to the right of the post; the gate says "Private road no cars" Follow this track 200m, Cerrigyr Adar / Outdoor Alternative is on the left, with large stone gateposts.
