Overview

Birmingham's Kitty Café is the newest venue to open as part of the chain that already has cafés in Leeds and Nottingham. They open in May so we'll be amongst the first to meet the new fluffy arrivals.

The café is designed with felines in mind, with wide open spaces and lots of kitty toys to amuse the permanent residents but that is not to say that humans are left out! Each table has comfortable sofas and armchairs where you'll enjoy a sumptuous selection of freshly prepared soft white sandwiches, Devonshire scones served with fresh clotted cream and strawberry jam, miniature cakes and desserts, and your choice of loose leaf tea, barista style fresh ground coffee or hot chocolate.

All food is prepared from the sealed glass kitchen where you can see your food being made, without risk of little paws getting involved. The cafe is kept at the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness, which is proven from their Food Standard rating of 5 - something the kitties are very proud of!

Our booking lasts for an hour so there will be plenty of time to enjoy the food and play with the cats, even hopefully getting some cuddles!

It's bound to be a lovely evening for those of us who are cat lovers so what are you waiting fur?

Includes

Afternoon tea and a £6 welfare charge per person which goes to looking after the cats.

I could not fault the staff, service or the food. The coordinator Jayne was lovely. The cats were fab, little Freddie in particular was a little monkey, can highly recommend to any fellow cat lovers. I can’t wait to go back.

Afternoon Tea at The Kitty Cafe was everything I hoped it would be. I had wanted to go since I heard they were opening in Birmingham and, as usual, Spice did not disappoint, with getting an early booking. And on a Sunday too. I am a cat lover but cannot own one myself at the moment. The setting was so much fun. The cats seemed very relaxed and so used to people, not at all shy. As soon as the food and drink came out we were inundated with feline friends trying to get at the milk, cream and cheese, but especially the salmon sandwiches!. I have to say, if you were anywhere else and the owners pet got at your food you would complain, but here you just don't have to mind too much. It is all part of the fun. Of course, the food is not generally good for them so you cannot actually feed it to them. It was too delicious anyway. No-one was going to get their paws on my scone and clotted cream!

We had a hilarious time watching their antics. So entertaining. Sometimes they did jump onto our laps, as you can see from the photos. The kittens were especially gorgeous.

I do not think this event could be improved in any way. It is what it is. You would not go unless you loved cats! I hope the people who go on the next one love it as much.

The 'afternoon tea at kitty cafe' was enjoyable, and satisfied my 'curiosity' as to what a cat cafe experience is - combining afternoon tea (always good) and an hour in the company of passing cats. Jayne was a good co-ordinator for the event.I would book such event again, as will always be interested in any kind of 'afternoon tea' or 'animal experience'. :)

Would particularly be interested in other cat cafe.
