Overview

Beaulieu is in the heart of the New Forest National Park, accessible from Southampton, Bournemouth, Winchester, Salisbury and Portsmouth.

Following the success of Sculpture at Beaulieu in 2019, the event returns in 2021 and features a unique collection of works by over 55 renowned sculptors, including Dawn Rowland, Frederic Chevarin, Helen Sinclair, Neil Wilkin, Paul Vanstone, Simon Gudgeon and Shaun Gagg.

Each piece has been carefully selected to take full advantage of their unique backdrop; from the atmospheric ruins of Beaulieu Abbey to the serene beauty of the Victorian Flower Garden and the intimate setting of Palace House.

Ranging from figurative to abstract, and covering a diverse range of mediums, the exhibition provides something to suit all tastes.

At Beaulieu, one inclusive ticket provides access to The National Motor Museum, World of Top Gear, Palace House & Gardens, Beaulieu Abbey, The Secret Army Exhibition, and unlimited rides on the Monorail

There is so much to see and do at Beaulieu and here are the main attractions you can expect to see on your visit.

National Motor Museum: Relive the joy and excitement of your favourite childhood toy cars in this fun-filled family exhibition, showcasing more than 800 toy cars and pedal cars to celebrate miniature motoring memories and much-loved playthings of the past.

Palace House: This was once the gatehouse of the medieval Beaulieu Abbey and has been the Montagu family home since 1538. In an idyllic New Forest setting, overlooking the picturesque Beaulieu River millpond, Palace House was remodelled and extended during the 1800s and is now a fine example of a Victorian country house. Inside, its ecclesiastical heritage sets the grand gothic tone for a home bristling with character and adorned with family treasures, portraits, and memorabilia.

Beaulieu Abbey: This 800-year-old Abbey was founded by King John in the 13th Century before being destroyed on the orders of King Henry VIII in 1538. Owing to the efforts of the Montagu family ancestors, distant relations of these former kings, the now tranquil Abbey is a conserved ruin where generations of visitors have enjoyed its peaceful setting and appreciated the achievements of its medieval builders.

World of Top Gear: If you've ever wondered what happened to the cars that were battered, modified and generally ruined by the BBC's Top Gear team, Beaulieu has lovingly gathered them up and displayed them in the World of Top Gear - a special exhibition in homage to the world's biggest car show.

Secret Army Exhibition: Uncover Beaulieu’s history as a top-secret training establishment for special agents of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War Two. Over 3,000 SOE agents were trained in the dark arts of warfare at Beaulieu before undertaking daring and dangerous missions behind enemy lines.

Art Russe at The Clock House: Beaulieu's Clock House is home to the UK’s first dedicated Soviet Russian art gallery. This gallery has been established as a showcase for the Art Russe foundation which aims to develop a greater understanding of Russian art and artists from the late nineteenth and twentieth century. While the artists are peers of well-known masters, many of the collected works have rarely been seen by the public outside Russia. Many of the pieces have previously been in private collections, meaning that they have not been shown in public for decades. The exhibition, which features bronzes and oil paintings, encompasses a variety of artistic styles including Socialist Realism and naturalistic landscapes.

We will walk at our leisure around the various attractions, obviously adhering to social distancing guidelines, whilst taking in the sights. We will find a nice area at lunchtime to sit and enjoy our homemade picnic. It is advisable to bring a picnic chair or picnic blanket so we can all sit together for lunch. After lunch we will continue our day visiting the remaining attractions before heading home to our various locations.

Please be aware: In accordance with Government guidelines, you will be required to provide contact details including name, address, telephone number and email address for all visitors to assist with any NHS Track and Trace exercise if required. In order to adhere to social distancing guidelines, the indoor spaces will have their own capacity limits and you may, therefore, be required to queue for some attractions.
