A trip on the Severn Valley Railway
Overview
Join us for a trip down memory lane (well for some of us) for a trip on the beautiful Severn Valley Railway, one of the UKs biggest heritage railway lines.
The ticket we buy allows you to travel on the railway all day.
The day can work in one of two ways…
In conjunction with the visit to Arley Arboretum in which case this is how the day will work: we catch the 10:00 from Kidderminster (unfortunately the 11:20 is a usually a diesel) and travel on this the whole length of the line to Bridgnorth, there are quite a few areas of woodland to this will be all autumnal. We then catch the next train back to Arley where we can walk to the arboretum. After visiting the arboretum we can walk back to Arley station and either just return to Kidderminster or explore the railway more. The arboretum needs to be booked separately – please use this link
With a visit to Bridgnorth in which case we still catch the 10:00 train so all the group starts together. At Bridgnorth we walk into the town to explore, visit a café and maybe have lunch. Afterwards we can either go straight back to Kidderminster or alight at Highley and look around the engine sheds (there is a café there too)
There is a car park at Kidderminster station (pay & display) or why not get the train; The mainline station is next to the Sever Valley Railway station
Host & Everything Else
I really enjoyed the trip on the Severn valley railway and I thought it was good value for money. Although there were only six of us, we were able to occupy a cabin to ourselves. You were excellent in the organisation of this event and I would like to participate in events like this one in the future.
