This event is no longer available.

Why not join us for a weekend at the seaside in this hostel with fabulous coastal views and just a short walk from Scarborough town centre. From walking on the Cleveland Way, exploring the castle, the sea life centre, the Victorian spa, the renowned Stephen Joseph theatre, two fabulous beaches, beautiful gardens and loads of seaside fun, Scarborough has lots to offer.

Subject to the weather & tides we will organise an optional group boat trip out on one of the Scarborough Pleasure Steamers to see the coast from the North Sea.

The great thing about these weekends is that you don’t have to go home after a long day out. If you’ve never been on a Spice weekend before give it a go - we're sure you'll love it! If you have been before you’ll already understand why they are so popular.

Walks: Steve Sutcliffe is our walk leader for the weekend and has arranged the walks below.

Saturday’s Walk

From the Bus Station in Filey we shall head down to the sea front and turn Left for Filey Brigg. We keep left at the stone marking the end of the Cleveland Way. Excellent coastal walking now, not too strenuous, Past the caravan parks on our way to Cayton Bay. Here we can stop for a coffee and toilets, maybe watch some surfing? Back to the coastal path before we come across the grounds where Holbeck Hall Hotel stood until it fell down the slope! next stop Scarborough! England’s oldest Seaside Resort. You may finish the walk here and find your own way back to Scalby. Or you could carry on with Steve for a short tour of the old part of Scarborough learning lots about its history, from the Romans to the German Navy!

8 miles on a popular coastal path, escape route at Cayton Bay. Meet Steve 09.30 (need taxi fare to Filey).

Sunday’s Walk

We head North today, in our cars, up to the village of Cloughton, home of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation's Cober Hill centre. From here we take the old Railway line down to the bottom of the village Before heading to the coast for more spectacular coastal walking north wards. We walk as far as Hayburn Wike before heading inland to the Pub by the railway line. After refreshments we will close the loop of our walk down the disused Railway line back to the cars in Cloughton.

7.5 miles more rugged coastal walking, steps, some ups and downs on the coast.

If you have any questions about the walks you can contact Steve on 07598137112.
