Didn’t we have a lovely time….

Denstone 2018 – our 1st visit to the wonderful Denstone College and the Spice National Weekend. 210 Spice members headed to Staffordshire to enjoy a weekend party – but is was so much more.
What began as a rainy check in soon cleared to a bright, blue sky evening. The first activities kicked off the break with members swimming, playing tennis, badminton and huge treasure hunt as well as the usual greetings with friends of old and the first steps to new friendships.
Dinner was soon served in the atmospheric dining hall – we really did feel like we were back at school – headmasters of old watching over us from the pictured walls.
Then it was time to party – DJ Max on the decks and the bar…. Oh that bar!
The dance floor was packed, the tunes kept coming and poor Max worked till the wee hours. Great fun.
Saturday was a busy day – keeping it simple we had members participating in swimming, badminton, tennis, volleyball, a gentile Quiddich game, silly school sports, rounders, a brilliant water fight – there were some big guns on show and the legendary Dave’s quiz – how many teeth does a frog have! The biggest group of all – following Steve Dell to the pub – with a few miles walked either side. Did we say it was busy?
As the clouds gathered we headed indoors for our BBQ – what a spread we had – the perfect start to the evening ahead. Our ‘All Things Magic’ themed party night. The costumes were inventive, funny, clever and some simply amazing. Keep an eye on Facebook for the photos – so many. Max back on the tunes, and the bar – phew! Sunday was strangely subdued – tired bodies all around, knackered was a word used by the coordinators mostly – but what fun we had!
We will be back at Denstone in 2019 to do it all again and judging by the 100 members already booked, you’ll be coming too.
