Fancy a weekend of fresh air and exercise and a "get away from it all" experience? Of course you do - and we have the perfect opportunity! Join other Spice members for a weekend camping in the company of New Forest ponies with canoeing on the Solent and the Beaulieu River. All canoes and equipment supplied by Slipstream Canoe Guides who are experienced coaches leading and supervising the water based activities.
We plan canoe trips in full consideration of the wind strength and weather conditions on the day as well as the experience of the group. We have previously crossed to the Isle of Wight and back and have also explored up and down the Beaulieu River from the harbour at Buckler’s Hard. Expect two full days canoeing but also time on Saturday evening to relax and share a meal. You will be asked to contribute to the evening meal and provide your own camping equipment but do please ask if you would like us to provide tents or ground mats.
This trip would be ideal for people who have canoed with us before, or for those people with some previous canoeing or kayaking experience and you can expect to improve your canoe paddling skills and learn about open water crossings and rescue techniques. *As a free, added bonus for this weekend, we will deliver the British Canoe Union's ONE STAR award training for those who are interested. This should be of interest for anyone that would like to go further in either canoeing or kayaking. Many who have already paddled with us would benefit from following this award. Please note, some providers will charge around £80 per head for just this course alone, so this represents superb value! There will also be an opportunity to try stand-up paddle boarding if the weather is favourable. T
his is great fun and a 'must do' for all water babies! We provide river-guiding, tuition and the use of equipment needed for canoeing. You will need to bring your own camping equipment. Camp site charges are payable separately. We do have a limited number of tents and sleeping bags which we could make available if requested (for a small charge). Bring some easy-to-prepare food and drink for meals. We will combine our group resources to make an evening campsite meal on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday morning. On both days everyone should bring a packed lunch for a midday snack. We may stop at a pub but this will be determined on the day depending on the trip we decide to run. Provisions can be bought locally in Brockenhurst. We shall be staying at Roundhill Campsite, Beaulieu Road, Brockenhurst, Hampshire SO42 7QL. For a real sense of adventure, nothing beats camping and canoeing in the New Forest!
