Sarehole Mill is a 250 year old working watermill in Birmingham that is famous for its association with author J.R.R Tolkien and also with Matthew  Boulton, who leased Sarehole Mill between 1756 and 1761 and used it as a ‘flatting mill’, producing sheet metal used for button manufacturing.

Unfortunately the waterwheel at Sarehole Mill is currently out of action due to flood damage but our free costumed tour of the mill to learn all about its history will still be fascinating. And while you’re there why not pop into the tea room for tea, coffee or one of their delicious cakes.

This isn’t a Spice exclusive event as it’s part of Birmingham Heritage week so we’ll be joining a public tour.
