This event is no longer available.

Take That, Queen, ABBA or Chas & Dave, the argument as to which artist is the greatest has long raged (obviously it’s Chas & Dave, but still the debate rumbles!). SPICE now offers you the chance to add your opinion publicly and without fear of retribution.

Each month, SPICE will pick a theme. You are requested to select one track that, to you, best illustrates the theme under discussion. You will be invited to give a short explanation as to why you chose it (‘I just like it’, will do!) and then we will all listen. After each track, there will be a short time to comment.

The idea is NOT to completely rubbish someone’s taste, even if they can’t understand that not everyone actually enjoys Mongolian Throat singing, but is an opportunity to share our tastes, have some fun and, who knows, maybe even finally agree that Chas & Dave really are musical gods! Please try to choose shorter pieces, as part of the fun will be to listen to as many diverse tracks as we can in the evening.

The coming themes are:

  • September: Exercise song
  • October: You wouldn't think I'd like this!
  • November: Memories

Our Christmas events are filling fast. Both our Leeds and Sheffield parties filled up in the last week but we have managed to make a few more places available on each. Our Carol Singing at Peak Cavern is also fully booked. We also need to confirm final numbers for Santa's Shuffle at The New Conservatory in Leeds in the coming days.

Today is BBC Children in Need Day and we are supporting it this year by donating 10% of the amount paid by Spice Yorkshire members on new event bookings today* to this great cause. So if you’ve been intending to book that weekend break, quiz night, meal or abseil, why not do it today for Pudsey?

Whether you're the lead singer in a top band, a street busker, the first to put down your name when the karaoke is about to start, or the type that normally only sings in the shower, a great many people find that singing is a great way to relieve stress and focus the mind.
