Ballachulish 2018 - A Lively Weekend in the Highlands
Nov 06, 2018
What a weekend that was - Ballachulish 2018 - 40 Spicers enjoying highland hospitality at the Isles of Glencoe hotel.
We arrived in the sunshine - Friday - a familiar location but one that's always wonderful. The group gathered, we made new friends and enjoyed a lovely (and large) evening dinner. What was ahead, we could only imagine but with an energy and search for fun we headed to The Laroch Inn - it's Karaoke time. The start was slow to say the least - not our enthusiasm but more a technology issue with the very drunk host - unable to work his laptop we took over and the singing was plentyful, enthusiastic and very occasionally - in tune. We enjoyed a lively evening in excellent company.
Saturday, we walked in the wet, we explored Fort William in the not so wet, swam in the pool and enjoyed some rugby in the pub - it was a relaxing day and one needed after the night before. Dinner - again plentyful was followed by an evening of ghouls, witches and Trump. Back at the Laroch a Halloween Disco had been arranged at short notice for us. Many managed to put together an impressive array of costumes given the late notice and again a lively evening was had by all.
We appreciate this feedback received by email on Sunday evening and is why we love what we do:
'Just a quick note to say thanks for organising another great weekend. I did have a moment on sat night when I thought.....I'm standing in a pub in the Highlands (in a wig), dancing with a bunch of strangers but having a really good time! I'll check out the calendar for my next spice events....'
Ballachulish - we've had around 10 years of visits and you've been brilliant. Circumstances mean we are unable to come back next year but we will be back i'm sure..... until next time.
We will be in Dumfries in late February 2019 for our next Scottish Bargain Break - 2 nights dinner bed and breakfast, walks, places of interest, disco and Abba - I feel more great memories and a lively weekend is coming....
