Wootton Wawen & Preston Baggott Easy to Moderate Bluebell Ramble
Overview
This wonderful 6½ mile ramble with Rob Smith is one of the ten best places to see Bluebells in the Stratford Areas.
We leave the view and cross the A3400 after a crossing a large field with lovely views we enter Austry Wood and the bluebells.
We rise gently through the woods until we meet the Monarchs Way (a long-distance footpath). The bluebells are at their best here with large carpets of them covering the forest floor as far as the eye can see. Following the Monarchs way, we drop down towards the Stratford Canal before returning to Wootton Wawen. We will stop at the small craft centre for a break and there are several cafes here as well as shops.
Leaving here we pass Wootton Hall and it oriental gardens and weirs, before re-joining the Strafford Canal we pass. We pass the view before proceeding on to Edstone Aqueduct to longest cast iron aqueduct in the country we then loop round several farms before crossing the railway and returning to the view where Rob has booked a table at this popular eating venue.
