Welcome to the NEW Spice National Weekend Break at Denstone College – we hope you can join us!
The English boarding school has an evocative appeal - whether you grew up with Billy Bunter, Harry Potter, St Trinian’s or Malory Towers. So we know you will just love the chance to spend a weekend with hundreds of Spice friends as “pupils” of one of the country’s finest Victorian Public Schools.
As well as being a really atmospheric location, it’s also a venue that can fulfil the main focus of a national weekend which is to bring Spice members together and have a lot of fun with friends old and new. But Denstone also offers much more such as plenty of FREE sports facilities and full board catering all included in the package.
Deposit: £30 non-refundable. Balances due 1st June and no refund for cancellation unless you can replace yourself or we can replace you from a waitlist. No dogs allowed.

2 breakfasts, 2 lunches (Fri & Sat), 2 evening meals, accommodation as chosen, 2 party nights one themed, live band on Saturday night. 2 walks in the local area. Access to the accommodation is available from 2pm but you can arrive from 12 noon on Friday when lunch will be available while you wait for access to your room. There will be a Spice coordinator ready to meet you on arrival with a big smile and warm welcome and they will direct you either to the dining hall if you are in time for lunch or to your accommodation. After dropping your car off in the car park head inside, meet your roomies / house mates / coordinators etc. and then get ready for a party weekend.
The only things set in stone at the moment are the meals and parties on Friday and Saturday nights, other than that it is all still in planning but rest assured that with all your coordinators involved there will be plenty of activities available throughout the weekend including walks and sports to keep you interested and occupied – a more detailed plan will be available nearer the weekend.
When it comes to the Saturday party theme, there will be no surprise that the venue perfectly suits the magical world of Harry Potter and all things magical so that should give you plenty to choose from whether you think inside or outside the box!!!
The party on Friday night is a traditional disco (if Spice ever does traditional) and on Saturday we will have live entertainment alongside the disco so grab your broom stick and let’s party!
The weekend finishes on Sunday and you will need to vacate your rooms by 10am but you can continue to socialise on site until 12 noon. Alternatively the college is only 20 minutes’ drive from Alton Towers - if thrill rides are your thing we will be arranging a meet up at the park at 11am on Sunday and are looking to arrange discounted tickets if you book with us in advance. There will also be some local events available to book arranged by your coordinators on Sunday if a theme park isn’t your thing.
Full board – there are 2 breakfast, 2 lunches (Fri/Sat) and 2 evening meals one of which will be a BBQ on Saturday included for everyone. Depending on numbers that book the weekend it may be that meals need to be split into 2 sittings to accommodate everyone. Meals are buffet style.
Travel & Stay
Camping – pitches are on the playing fields and there is access to a sports pavilion with toilet and shower facilities (mixed sex). You will need your own tent and camping equipment but no BBQs’ or fire pits allowed. If you want to bring a camper van you will need to let us know when you book as space for these is limited and there is no electric hook-up.
Dormitory – for the traditional boarding school experience! A single bed in a large dormitory style room ranging from 4 to 9 beds in a room and have separate shared facilities in the building. They will be single sex rooms unless there are group requests to mix.
Twin shared facilities – 2 members sharing a room with two single beds. Some of these rooms are triple bedded but being used for 2 people, if you would like to share as 3 please speak to your coordinator but there is no discount. Facilities are shared with other rooms in the block.
Twin en suite – 2 members sharing a room with two single beds and facilities within the room. (Limited availability)
Single shared facilities – a room for one person with a single bed. Facilities are shared with other rooms in the block (there are no single en suite rooms). (Limited availability)
Each accommodation building has a lounge / communal area which is excellent to meet your fellow Spicers
NB – there are no locks on the rooms and hanging space in wardrobes may be limited and vary from room to room. There are lockers available outside the rooms if you want to put anything away in a locked space however you will need to bring your own padlock!
Based near Uttoxeter in Staffordshire between the M1 and M6 motorways access to Denstone is hopefully relatively easy for everyone by road and if travelling by rail Uttoxeter is the closest location station (approx 6½ miles) or Stafford and Derby are the nearest mainline stations (both approx 21 miles).
