TAKE TO THE SKIES THIS MONTH ON AN EXCITING MICROLITE FLIGHT
This is an ideal Microlight venue, miles away from the buzz of city life amidst green fields as it should be. You will be in groups of 3 (your time slot will be notified). Steve Heward, our instructor, will welcome you and introduce you to the machine and how it all works before proceeding to brief you on your trial flight. Steve is one of the most experienced Microlight pilots in Britain, so you are in the safest of hands on your 15 to 20 minute flight which will probably follow the route of the River Wharfe, with a superb views over Otley chevin and the grounds of Harewood. You will be flying at an altitude of anything up to 4000ft, depending on weather conditions and at a speed of around 60mph.
For anyone who is keen, and if Steve considers them competent enough, there will be an opportunity to take over the control bar and to maybe try a few turns and other basic manoeuvres. It's all very exciting as you are strapped in directly behind the pilot and, of course, completely open to the elements. Bring your cameras and lots of warm clothes as it can get quite chilly up there although Steve will supply you with a flying suit. As usual with all Air sports there will be a weather check to make on the day as in the case of bad weather the event could be cancelled. Directions: Leave Leeds on the main Harrogate road, A61 after about 10 miles you will come to a new roundabout at the junction of the A61 and the A658. Take the first exit towards Bradford, after appx threequarters of a mile take a left turn towards Harewood, cross a level crossing and about a quarter of a mile beyond the crossing park in the layby on the right hand side of the road.
