For those of you who
enjoy good wine & great food...
For a some time now we have
been receiving requests to organise a culinary trip that combines food,
wine and culture and what better place to do this that in the beautiful
Italian area of Tuscany. Famed for both its rustic cuisine and classic
wine Tuscany offers so much variety that it’s difficult to know what to
leave out…
Day to day
itinerary Day 1 – Depart the UK for Pisa Airport where we will be
met by a local representative and transferred to Montecatini our based
for the week in the 4* Ariston Hotel. Day 2 - In order to set the scene for this tour, today we will
have a day’s cookery course which will teach you the finer points of
Tuscan cuisine. A lunch will also be available of what we have prepared
(so make it good!). Day 3 -
After breakfast, we travel by coach to Pistoia, to meet our local
English speaking guide and enjoy a morning walking tour around the
historic centre. Then it’s on to visit to the Corsini sweet factory and
a taste of these locally famous ‘riccio’ sweets, followed by a stop at a
farm near Montalbano or Carmignano for a guided tour of the farm with
wine producing presentation, light lunch and wine tasting. Afternoon
departure for Vinci and visit the Leonardo da Vinci Museum.
Day 4 – A free day to enjoy Montecatini; go for a stroll around
town, sit in a café watching the world go by, the choice is yours! Day 5 -
After breakfast depart by coach for San Gimignano to meet your local
English speaking guide for morning tour of this wonderful medieval town.
We then continue to the Fattoria San Donato wine farm 4 kilometres away,
and visit with light buffet lunch and wine tasting. Day 6 – Another leisurely day in Montecatini. Day 7 - After breakfast we depart by coach for the Chianti
Classico area of Tuscany, roughly between Florence and Siena. We meet
our local English speaking guide and visit Brolio Castle (and gardens)
followed by a wine tasting and light lunch either in Brolio Castle or in
the town of Radda. In the afternoon we continue with our guide along the
‘Chianti Wine Road’ through Castellina, and Panzano, to the most
important Chianti Classico town Greve-in-Chianti. Here we will wander
around its marvellous arcaded square and visit Falorni, the renowned
delicatessen shop Day 8 - After breakfast, check-out of our hotel and transfer to
Pisa Airport for our return flights.
